How we source listings

Short version: open map data for the base, each store's own website for hours and type, clear labels for everything we could not confirm.

1. Base listings

Every listing begins as a place record in the Overture Maps open dataset (release 2026-09-23.1), category "antique store". Overture compiles places from several providers under permissive licenses (CDLA-Permissive-2.0 / Apache-2.0 per source). We keep the name, address, coordinates, phone and website. Places are not businesses: a dealer inside a mall, a co-brand or a shop that has since closed can all appear. We remove records that the source marks closed, records whose names show a different kind of business, and online-only or service-only businesses when their own website says so.

2. Hours and store type

For listings with their own website we read the home page and up to two pages about hours, visiting or contact. Hours come from structured data (schema.org) when a site publishes it, otherwise from a clearly labelled hours block in the page text. Each hours line shows the date we read it. Blocks that look like auction, consignment-intake, office or event times are rejected or shown as "unverified". A listing is called a multi-dealer antique mall only when the operator's own site describes it that way and states a dealer count, size or a mall name. A name containing "mall" is not enough.

3. Grouping

Listings sharing a street address are grouped under the mall at that address and shown as "also listed at this address". This grouping is based on the address only; it does not confirm tenancy.

4. What we do not do

5. Updates

Base data is refreshed with new Overture releases. Operator websites are re-read quarterly, and sooner when a correction is sent. Current data: 27,845 listings, 813 confirmed malls, 2,593 with sourced hours, generated 2026-10-08.
